The Red Barn at Outlook | Mike & Elizabeth Wedding Preview

Mike & Izzy patiently waited for their wedding for an extra year as they rescheduled last fall due to COVID. I’m grateful to have been able to witness their small ceremony at Pepperell Cove last fall. Despite marrying each other “again"," their enthusiasm and excitement for their full-fledged wedding day was nothing less than what you would have expected if it were the first time. I know I personally was really excited, as I’ve been looking forward to their day since long before we did their engagement session!

There were a couple things that made Mike & Izzy’s wedding extra special to witness as their photographer… one was seeing Izzy have her makeup done by Joanne from Joya Beauty. Joanne referred Izzy and Mike to me for their wedding photography, as Joanne worked with Izzy’s mom prior to Izzy being born! Joanne also did Izzy’s sister’s makeup for her wedding.

I also appreciated seeing the camaraderie amongst Mike and his groomsmen, who were active in the military overseas. There’s a very apparent bond between these men that comes through in their jovial nature combined with their support for Mike. Thank you for your service, gentlemen!

Katelyn & Alex - Omni Mount Washington Wedding Preview

Katelyn and Alex spanned their grand wedding celebration from the majestic Omni Mt Washington Resort to the top of Bretton Woods ski resort at the beautiful Rosebrook Lodge. Although there was rain, these two were in nothing but top spirits. In fact, the clouds parted for us to get outside for a number of portraits, their first look, and a little champagne pop to the end the day.

It’s an honor to extend praise to my friend Tracy Dapp for helping in so many different days with Katelyn and Alex’s wedding. You can’t see all the things that Tracy and her team helped with behind the scenes, but you can see the end result. WOW!

I also want to commend Katelyn and Alex for their positive energy throughout the entire day. Of course, anyone could be sad when rain changes plans on the wedding day. It didn’t seem to affect these two in the least bit.

A few noteworthy things to check out in the photos:

• Custom cufflinks from Iceland made from volcanic rock

• A New Hampshire mountains themed cake and table settings, each with their own mountain to identify the table

• Guests received their own “party animal” with their table assignments

• Their ceremony involved a sealing of a box with letters from their parents to open upon their wedding anniversary

Taylor & Nick | Wychmere Beach Club Cape Cod Wedding Pictures Preview

What better way to kick off the summer than an exquisite wedding in Cape Cod?! Taylor and Nick got married at The Wychmere Beach Club, a beautiful venue in Harwichport, MA. The grounds look right onto the ocean, and the reception room is reminiscent of the hull of a large opulent sailboat with heavy wooden beam ceilings and windows that look out onto the harbor full of boats.

Nick and Taylor got ready at their own Air B&Bs nearby, which is always a great idea to have lots of space and accomodations for your wedding party.

The ceremony was outdoors overlooking the ocean, with music played by Naavi Strings. Nick & Taylor chose black and gold as their wedding colors, which always photographs beautifully.

We were fortunate to pop outside at sunset to get a few photos at the sand dunes around the corner.

I was fortunate to meet many of the guests last summer when I photographed the Nick sister’s wedding at Cliff House in Maine (Rob & Noelle’s wedding). There’s nothing like walking into a room full of familiar faces! It definitely helped with a few of the images, including a mini photoshoot with the flower girls which you’ll see below.

John + Nancy | Ragged Mountain Wedding Photography Preview

Wow, what a day. It was hot, no doubt about it. But that didn’t slow the festivities. John + Nancy’s day was FILLED with cool personal touches. The groomsmen each received their own caricature mug from John, and the ceremony tables were fixed with adorable quotes from Nancy’s students answering, “What is love?” (e.g., Love is when you hug someone and people kiss each other!).

At the last minute, the weather turned south (metaphorically) and the ceremony was moved indoors to the Ragged Mountain Ski Lodge. And it was the right call! Thunder rang deep and long just as the wedding party began their procession down the aisle. In fact, the thunder actually knocked two screens loose from a nearby window.

With Nancy’s mom & dad in each arm, she walked the long aisle to beautiful music played by local musicians David and Patrick. John met Nancy with tears in his eyes (there’s photographic evidence). They read their own vows, which true to John + Nancy’s nature, included a great sense of humor!

Despite the heat, the night continued with an intense showing on the dance floor!

And at the end of the night…. the skies opened to reveal one of the most epic sunsets I think I have ever experienced. Something about seeing reds + blues in the sky at the same time, wow. Love that the rain stopped and allowed us to get outside in peace to create epic pictures to finish off their day!

These two absolutely rocked their engagement session. Storms were brewing in the distance, with an occasional flash of lightening on the horizon, but that didn't deter us from getting out there. It's like that saying...

"Life isn't about coming in from the storm... it's about getting out there and dancing in the rain." My wife loves that expression. 

Nicole & Connor are having their summer wedding in Moltonborough, New Hampshire in 2018, so we did their engagement pictures this summer in a place near Lake Winnipesaukee that is special to them. 

Oh, and yah of course I got really excited when we talked about incorporating their motorcycles into their session. Absolutely! These two ride together, how awesome is that?

Chris & Katie's engagement photography session went like this:

4PM:

"Hey guys, I know it's raining so I wanted to check in with you." - Chris

"Yah, we're down for whatever," - Katie

"Definitely, let's shoot! We'll do something cool with the rain...." - Chris

And then we made epic pictures in the rain. No matter what the weather, there are ALWAYS great pictures to be made. Shooting in the rain can actually be one of the best options when you trust your wedding photographer.

Their signature image turned out to be the backlit shot on their mountain bikes, looking at each other. That image is now featured as a 45" acrylic metal print over their mantle (see separate post for BTS on the install).

The Staples family came in for pictures while they were vacationing from Texas. It might have been just as hot here in Dover, New Hampshire, but the whole family was cool. Especially the twins. I mean, common, look at these guys!

I fell in love with Jewelry Creations when Deb helped me find the absolute perfect ring to propose with to Chrystn (see very bottom). Through follow up visits for our wedding bands I've come to know the Jewelry Creations family, including new owners Kelly & Doug. We discussed installing wedding artwork, and then poof, the artwork is on the wall! 

We began the design process using my studio's software for visualizing the perfect size and placement. 

The Installation

It's all about the right tool for the job. Installing anchors into the brick was a breeze with the hammer drill. Sleeve anchors provided a very reliable anchor into the brick. 

With just a piece of paper taped on the wall for true scale, our software allows us to visualize the exact size and placement of artwork on the wall, so it's never too big or too small.

The Completed Installation

This is the ring my now-wife wears. I knew it was the one the instant that I saw it. Thank you, Deb, couldn't have found it without your help.

The sunset we got that evening in September was awesome. Amazing. Extraordinary. One-in-a-million. Nothing short of spectacular! And this first one picture here, that's now enjoyed as a stunning 20"x30" canvas in their living room.

Garrison Hill Tower in Dover, New Hampshire is an iconic 9-story tower overlooking Dover and the greater New Hampshire Seacoast. You can see Portsmouth & Newington on a clear day, and even the White Mountains.

What is a bridal session, you may be wondering?

A bridal session is a time to create photos that compliment your wedding day and/or your engagement photography. We create photos in a different location, sometimes in different attire, and at a different time of year (particularly evident in New England). That way, all of those great professional photos of you gracing the walls at home aren't all from the same day in the same getup.
